Apple delays some iPhone 14 Pro pre-orders

The first pre-orders for the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Pro are starting to reach customers around the world. However, for some buyers, Friday will still not be “iPhone 14 day”. According to messages on social networks and from 9to5Mac Readers, Apple is postponing some iPhone 14 pre-orders that were originally promised for launch day September 16th.

Some iPhone 14 Pro pre-orders delayed

For most of the years, Apple has been conservative in its estimates of new iPhone shipments. We almost never hear of situations where a company promised delivery to a customer on launch day, but then delayed delivery after the fact. What’s more common is that Apple gives buyers a later delivery and then beats those estimates.

However, this year’s launch of the iPhone 14 has been a little tricky. On pre-order day last week, Apple Store Online and the Apple Store app experienced major disruptions as customers rushed to order new devices. This has led to a lot of issues, including some customers getting multiple iPhone 14 pre-orders due to system bugs, and others with nothing.

Now it seems like Apple is overpromising and underestimating some iPhone 14 buyers. Reports ascent on the social networks that Apple delay some orders for the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max, which were originally scheduled for delivery on September 16th. 9to5Mac also heard directly from readers whose orders are facing similar delays.

In most cases, Apple is pushing back these estimated shipping dates by about a week to September 23rd, but we’ve also heard from readers whose orders have been pushed back to September 30th. Some buyers were notified earlier this week of the delays, while others were not informed until today.

These delays seem to only affect the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max. The base model iPhone 14 isn’t as limited in supply as the “Pro” models. Also remember that the iPhone 14 Plus won’t be released until October 7th.

As disappointing as this news is for affected iPhone 14 buyers, it’s not surprising given these pre-order system glitches. Ideally, Apple will still be able to beat its shipping estimates, even if it’s only for a couple of days. iPhone 14 Pro delays don’t seem incredibly common (yet). But this year it is still much more common than in previous years.

Most iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max variants currently list shipping estimates for mid-to-late October via Apple Store Online.
