Cruel Night Continues the Santa Claus Horror Movie Trend

In the last few years, we’ve been seeing rather atypical Santa Claus stories coming out of Hollywood. Although Christmas Chronicles 2 Of course, he tried his best, he couldn’t make us completely forget about Santa Claus in sunglasses dropping bombs with sarcasm, driving a Dodge Challenger, singing hard rock versions of Christmas carols with other inmates in prison.

Recently, there has been a surge in such films in which traditionally innocent and childish characters play the roles of gruesome, tattooed, cursing and drunken action heroes. Even though Mel Gibson’s 2020 film didn’t receive wide distribution or good reviews, fat man is a perfect example of this trend. He took his quirky twist, Santa’s vigilant hideout, seriously and delivered straight forward, with some saying the film isn’t entirely unpleasant to watch. Meanwhile, director Reese Waterford is hard at work on the concept of his upcoming film. Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey and with subsequent similar films in the works.

Now viewers can look forward to cruel night, with David Harbor as Santa Claus. He is a lean, mean Christmas spirit enforcement machine involved in a war with mercenaries. Why are these films being made? They don’t seem to be just in the name of humor. fat man was quite serious. blood and honey is poised to become more than just a nightmarish black comedy. cruel night will almost certainly go beyond the insane concept of a disgruntled, landlord Santa turning into a bomb-dropping John Wick in the name of Christmas.

Talking about cruel night from the same famous director as John Wick, David Leitch and David Harbor, John Leguizamo, Beverly D’Angelo as SantaNational Lampoon Vacation), Alex Hassel (The tragedy of Macbeth) and Edie Patterson (righteous gems), Alexis Lauder (Tomorrow is war) and Cam Gigandet (The Magnificent Seven). The film promises to be a holiday gift, and the first footage delighted fans at CinemaCon 2022.

David Harbor as R-rated Santa

Although there is no trailer for the movie yet, we know that Santa Claus will cause a heat wave with a group of mercenaries who kidnapped the family on Christmas Eve, making Saint Nick the only person capable of freeing them. It’s going to be bloody, brutal, and a very high R rating.

David Harbor spoke candidly about the film at CinemaCon, saying:

“What about movies that make you sweat? Don’t you love action movies? Who doesn’t love great action movies, right? How about Christmas movies? movie in one? Toughie. Damn it, Die Hard. What if… wait a minute, wait a minute. What if director Tommy Wirkola kicked ass and the badass producers at 87North, you know, the maniacs who made Explosive Blonde and John Wick and Nobody and Hobbs and Shaw were behind it all? And, wait, what if I started out like a fucking Santa Claus? I don’t think you’ll see, it’s not a real trailer, but you better not cry to someone. Better not pout. I tell you why. Because Santa Claus is coming to town. “.

The plot can come into contact with all the most iconic films of recent decades. There is a story about a domestic hostage, reminiscent of Alone at home, evil Santa Claus, like Kurt Russell’s christmas chronicles, and the spirit of Christmas, as in Elf when one of the young girls is being held hostage by mercenaries, he calls Santa and begs him for help. He replies, “Santa Claus is coming to town.”

Why are they making alternative films about Santa Claus?

What broader themes does this film and others like it hope to achieve? Is it all just in the name of an amazing and first-of-its-kind twist on the genre? Is this the predictable product of the decline and disillusionment that has engulfed much of the population and, by extension, Hollywood? Well, yes! This is both! What will be the effect of these films?
